Irene's Story
I graduated from West in June 1969. In February, 1970 I married Phil Trujillo, my high school sweetheart. We had one son Phillip Jr. in October, 1971. We lost Phillip Jr to a drunk drive in a hit and run car accident on August 12, 1989 one month after he graduated Paramont high school . Phil and I divorced after being married 26 years.
I am now married to the most wonderful man. Jeff and I married in November, 1998. We lived in the Oregon/Washington area for 3 years then moved back to Denver in 1996. We have a house on 1/3rd of an acre in Lakewood,Colorado. We now have a little Schnoodle named Gracie who is very smart and really fun to have around.
Jeff and I love to travel to near and far away places. With his job we've had the opportunity to travel to many such as; Puerto Rico, Cancun and Hawaii, to name a few. A few years ago we were able to travel to Italy for two weeks with about 20 of our friends. We...Expand for more
enjoyed many bottles of great wine and ate the most delicious food, enjoyed a bike ride through the back roads of Tuscany along with lots of site seeing trips to some of the cities/towns near by. The trip was awesome and we will go back one day . Another vaction we like to take is to Lake Powell on a houseboat. We've gone several timeswith friends,. Every time is different but is always a fun time. lA little closer to home are trips to Palisade, Colorado and the many fruit and wine festivals that may or may not include a cycling tour.
In 2002 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a lumpectomy as well as 6 months of chemo and 12 weeks of radiation treatments. Currently cancer free!!! BTW, I look pretty good bald (LOL).
I love to go on bike rides. I've ridden in the Tour de Cure for diabetes, one year in the MS150, the Elephant Rock Ride in Castle Rock, CO and Fat Tire Classic.
