Irene's Story
It is fun being retired but can't find enough time in the day to do all I would like to. Still active as a Membership adviser in the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow' the honor society of scouting and committee member of our Taylor, Michigan Troop. I also sit on the Board for the Boy Scout museum at D-bar-A near Lapeer and the James E. West committee.
We do love taking cruises and one of them was taking the Independance of the Seas from South Hampton England via Vigo, Spain, Maderia Portugal across the Atlantic to Ft Lauderdale. It took 14 nights and was one of the most fun and relaxing of all our 30 cruises.
We have since traveled to Northern Florida to visit our daughter and her four sons. We celebrated the eldest one's 25th birthday while there. Then we drove down to Port Canveral and did a 7 days cruise on the Freedom of the Seas Western Caribbean. Looking forward to a 14 night cruise on the RCI Serenade of the Seas Panama cruise in October and of course the Inaugural sailing ...Expand for more
of the Oasis of the Seas in December. Keeps me young and happy!
Extremly active in Genealogy and travel a lot trying to find the elusive ancestors.
I have 10 grandchildren, 5 boys and 5 girls from the ages of 25 to 11. They sure are better in school than I ever was, but then they got to chose what they wanted to study unlike me. My parents chose my study courses.... I wanted science classes and got stuck in secretarial and bookkeeping classes. Uck!
With the help of my husband and after I graduated from Wayne County Community College with an Associates degree in Animal Technology I finally got to do what I wanted to do all my life. Went to work for a Veterinarian Pathologist and enjoyed every moment of the 23 years I worked there.
Hope someday we all can get together and have another reunion, a lot of our classmates have passed away and it would be fun to see those left. My husbands 1952 Okemos High School class has been going to the homecomming reunions for his school.
