Iris's Story

I lived most of my growing up years in New Rochelle (City Park). I loved to spend summer days just reading books in the park when I wasn't busy bicycling with friends. After graduating from NRHS (1967), I attended college for several years in Massachusetts and also lived in Boston for almost a year. I have lived in Maryland since 1970. I reconnected with Will, my childhood friend and high school sweetheart (‘66 NRHS), much later in life. We married in 2006! Between us we have 6 grown children and 16 grandchil...Expand for more
dren. I’ll be retiring in 2018 and willI concentrate on writing - poetry, children's stories, and devotionals. Writing has always been my passion. In my younger years I was in a poetry group. We performed our collective poetry and songs at local universities. I’m working toward performing spoken word in the coming year, something I’m sure I’ll enjoy. I attended the 50th reunion for the class of ‘67 and had a great time!! Other ‘67 class events are on the horizon and I hope to be able to make those, too!!

Early Sunday morning fun! Josie, my youngest granddaughter, with 3 balloons from her birthday party 3 months ago. Yes, 3 months... that in itself is unbelievable. They are each deflated quite a bit but still bring her much
Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Karen Hogan, a beautiful, kind, sincere and loving person. May your next year of life be your best yet! Keep celebrating!! ❤️ Love you!

My 3 oldest granddaughters (in birth order). It seems like a sisterly love day in this 1 of 10+ pictures taken. It’s nice to see them smiling and having fun.
70th 😮 Birthday dinner for Will at Chido’s. We love Mexican food. The servers came out clapping and singing birthday songs in Spanish as they brought a dessert Creme Brulee that was recommended (delicious) and a sombrero

#Metoo continued because others can/will/need to identify with this poem. So during this Thanksgiving season let’s appreciate the courage it takes for victims to step out of the shadows and share

I’m not braving the brutal cold today! I’m at home writing and coloring instead. Next, research and editing, and then a nap. ☺️
