Irwin's Story
Quick Update
I am now on Facebook as Irwin Nikko Jose.
Look me up!
Life
After 5 years at NIU and a year in
internships in Japan and the
Philippines, I got my B.A. with an
emphasis on Visual
Communications in 1993. I got
married in 1994 to Karri whom I met
in a life-drawing class (she was the
model... just kidding). We packed up
after the wedding, spent our
honeymoon on the road going west
and moved to the San Francisco Bay
Area where we have been living ever
since. I pursued my career in graphic
design, and before my wife became
a full-time mom, she was an office
manager for an artsy fartsy furniture
store until our first son was a year
and a half. Desi arrived in November
1997, and Dante, our second baby,
arrived in October 2000. I am working
at the headquarters of a major
department store as an Art Director
for one of our Creative Teams. Hope
to hear from you.
School
Biggest crushes? I had a whole list of girls, but back then, I either had no courage to ask them out or I went about it the wrong way -- inexperience.
The three teachers that really inspired me were M...Expand for more
r. Langehaug in my art classes, Mr. Chiaverina in Freshman English and on the Barblet, and Mrs. Louden, my Geometry teacher.
Would do it over again? Yes, and no. I would probably take more chances, and I would try to have fun more, but I would definitely plan on heading where I am now.
Memories? Funniest: when I accidently kicked the soccer ball really hard at the Kouk's face (sorry, John). Happiest: working on Fiddler on the Roof, Senior Prom, and dating a special someone in Senior year. Craziest: Wear-What-You-Dare Days and Halloween.
College
College was more or less a blur to me.
I did have roommates who were very different from me, and they definitely shaped and broadened my perspective on life.
Cafeteria cuisine? The only time I really had that was when I was having dinner or breakfast over at Karri's dorm, The Plaza. People usually say that dorm food usually sucks, but it didn't at this place.
All-nighters? I lived in the Art Building. I fell asleep in the Art Building. And after one long night working, I woke up in a middle of someone else's class.
