Isabel's Story
Life
My Spouse
My husband and I met through friends that worked together. We all attended a "Pride & Joy" concert at the Hyatt, in San Francisco. I could actually say, It was the best night of my life. We took one look at eachother and, It was love at first sight. He was the cats meow! to me. That was in 1990. We have been in love ever since!
My Kids
I consider our little boy Brendan a gift from God. He truly is our joy. I now understand the bond between parents and their children. He's the hardest job I've ever had in all my life but, the sweetest and the one that gives back more than a hundred fold to us everyday.
School
My biggest crush when I entered Serramonte High was Roman Romero. He was a Junior and I was a Freshman. Oh my gosh but he never knew I was alive! This would have made a great John Hughes flick! Somehow I arranged for us to meet. We met by one of the hallways in school, during a break between classes. He was really nice about it (which I will never forget, what a good guy!) but, he wasn't interested in a skinny, scrawney freshman. I never heard from him again. ident teen-ager, I realized that I had a lot to offer and Mr. Romero had lost out on that. After that, I never knew HE was alive! Either way, it makes for some fabulous memories and hopefully Mr. Romero is thinking of those times with fondness, especialy If he has girls to raise!
I totally have great memories of him. My big brother still bugs me about him and the big crush I had.
College
I tried to attend college at 17 but, I didn't want to. I figured oh my gosh, I just got out of school, I don't want to go back. How stupid that thinking was. My dad really wanted me to but, being that he was divorced from my mom and the fact that I was living with her, he had little say. He was so upset that I didn't go. Later on as an adult I began to take college classes because finally I realized I really wanted to and needed to know more than I had learned in high school. My dad was right. Being a child of 10 from Nicaragua coming to this country in the 1940's he really appreciated what America had to offer. He and my Mom came to live in San Francisco in the 40's and 50's. They will always be greatful for what the U.S. has done for them.
