JOSE's Story

MY LIFE BIOGRAPHY, UPDATE JUNE 4, 2010 HELLO CLASSMATES OF YEARS 1963 TO 1966, I'm updateing my Bio' this date, couple of classmates asked that I do so. Thus - here I go: I too would be hoping to connect with some old friends and classmates, Since I started this back in Sept 2008 but not seeing anyone that I truely would like to communicate with, Except some of my cousins, like Pete and Jesse (Juice) Ramos and of course my Infamous Uncle Carlos ( Chile) Bustos. Yes, he's family and anyone who knew my Uncle -; Well - you get the idea you poor souls. But really he is a good guy, just recently found out he retired from the Chicago Police force. Don't get to see much of him anymore, whereabouts unknown. Myself, I was pretty much the quite type back then, until I went into the Military after graduation. My dream back then was like alot of us young men back in the 50's & 60's decades was to see as much of the world as I could, seeking new experiences, adventure and cultures of other countries once finishing High School ; or if you were lucky enough to do some college if at all. I figured that some Military experiance would prepare me for life's up and downs; which it certanly did for me. Did 4 years in the Navy, 1yr in Kodiak Alaska, 1-1/2 yr in Hawaii on an escort destroyer , being a real sailor and of which we were all over the South Pacific and Indian Oceans; visited alot of south sea islands; Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, Africa, everywhere but Europe. And my last year in Viet Nam, 6 months in Da Nang, and my last 5 months in Cam Rhan Bay before comming home for good; that last tour I could of done without. As I look back on that War event of my life: I can truely say that's where I really found my "inner peace" if I may put it that way. One would have to go through something like that event to understand how life is so precious or should be to all of us. All that traveling before coming home to settle down and getting married to a good woman. We had two sons, who are now gone and out on there own, married as well. They made us grandparents of 4, three boys, 1 girl. I'm still living in the Chicago area, in Alsip to be exact. Being the electronics type; Was working for the Gorden Flesch Co. as a field service technician, repairing digital B&W; color, fax, and networking office copier equipment. Previous to that, worked 30 years for the C-4 Imaging Systems Co. repair and maintanance of di...Expand for more
gital large format engineering copiers, again a field service technician. Which is what I enjoyed the most, out on my own, meeting lots of interesting people.Totally retired now as of Nov. 2009. I'm a graduate of Devry Institute of Techlology, did some college in the 80s and 90s in the computer tech field. These days just kicking back and enjoying life, partying still when I get the chance, Hoping my health will hold up. The old bones retired from playing ice hockey and doing some coaching the last few years. Was thankfully able to stay in decent shape playing sports well into my 50s. I was able to replace my "66" H.S. yearbook recently, had finally linked up with my cousin Pete Ramos who also was a "66" graduate , since I lost my original year book in a fire back home while I was in the Navy. It was great to see cousin Pete again after 40 years of no contact. He lent me his "66" yearbook and I have hard copied and condensed it into a file format on my computer and a cd for future safe keeping. I've noticed that Classmates had added a "Timeline" feature which I think was a great idea, only to see that they have deleated that feature just last week, probably was'nt a very popular addition to the site that nobody really used. I'll redo it as a picture album and will assemble old pictures and "timeline" pictures from my past, i.e those pic's that survived the years, some are pretty faded. I have been scanning alot of my old stuff (pictures) trying to save whats left. All of my graduation and Harrison school days pictures are gone, wiped out in that fire I spoke about. To date June 4, 2010 doing fine and just taking it easy, Have retired from active working. Still trying to get used to the idea of retirement. I do keep busy with my electronic repair side business as well as all my other activities. Looking forward to a multi-yr. Class reunion Picnic that is being gathered on Aug 7 of this year (2010). It's gonna be great to see old Classmates from the past, whether I knew some of them or not. I'm always looking fwd to meeting new and old friends from my years past. Hope all my classmates enjoy the albums and stories for each picture that I've posted, should tell somewhat of my life"s events. That's it guys, a quick rundown of where I've been and done since Harrison H.S. graduation. Hope to hear from somebody who remembers the quiet, innocent, loving Joe Bustos back what seems like a century ago......JOE
