Joseph's Story

Life This is updated 2/6/16 but still sign in please as I still like just about everyone I've known throughout my life. This year I will be celebrating 33 years of marital bliss.Yes,I joke around alot but the truth is I am happily married. I have three grown (but still kids) children. I enjoy travelling, often with one or two of my children (my wife does not fly). My goal is to visit every state and at least 25 different countries. I have a bucket list that has been a lot of fun so far. Skydiving-check, Bungee-jumping-check, Scuba diving-check,skiing-hell yeah, donating an organ-absoluely....My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in the hospital the day after I gave her my left kidney.I am thankful every day for our compatability. To paraphrase the movie "Jerry McGuire"...she completes me. In August of 2014 I was diagnosed with oral cancer. I am happy to say, I am currently cancer-free. There are a few lasting problems from the cancer surgery but I am basically healthy and happy. School Saint michael's grammar school in Newark,NJ. So many good memories. I was never a teacher's pet but I feel I usually had a great teacher. The students I went to school with were also great. I had a chance to see many of them again at a class reunion in 2008. Saw some others since but am still trying to find a small handful. Seeing them as adults reinforced my belief that we had the best class ever. Oh yeah, I went to High School at Essex Catholic in Newark. Most of my H.S. memories took place after school or in the summer. I did get a very good education there so I'm not knocking ...Expand for more
it. I just don't remember too many remarkable happenings during school hours. Military Bootcamp in San Diego was hot. I may be one of the few that actually liked bootcamp. I received the company outstanding recruit award and a meritorious advancement. Off to A-school in Great Lakes...Cold. Some good times some bad. The blizzard of "79" ...15 foot snow drifts. Then came sea duty aboard the aircraft carrier America. I went to about a dozen different countries and enjoyed each one. Going back to my Essex Catholic H.S. education, I learned how to speak Spanish and French well enough to enjoy my visits to Spain, Peurto Rico, and France that much more. I also learned a few words and phrases in Italian (from a girlfriend during H.S. years) that made it possible for me to travel in Italy on my own while my ship was docked there. Many good memories of my navy years. Work I worked at Prudential in Florham Park right after high school and before joining the navy. Went back there after the navy for about a year then got a job at St. Michael's hospital in the trade I learned in the navy. I am a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers local#68. After St. Michael's Hospital, I started working at Prudential in Newark. I've been there for quite some time now (with a break in service for a few years in which I worked at Prudential in New Providence and The New York Times). I really do love working here and enjoy the work I do. If you remember me, chances are I will also remember you. I am very good at remembering names of people I knew. I'd love to hear from you.
