Jaci's Story

Life The Friday before Mother's Day this year,2005, I found out that I have breast cancer. I am dealing with it accoringly. I just wanted to let all you women out there who are celebrating their 11th anniversary of their 29th birthday to get in there and have a mammogram. I wasn't due to have one till the middle of the summer. well I am not really available then so I had it last month. I'm glad I didn't put it off till next winter when " I had the time " I would be dead. And I don't care if some of you would like that I don't think my kids would. Self breast exams are great but they have their limits. no one not even the surgeon could feel the lump. but it was there deep inside the center of the breast. There is a draw back to being hooteriferous. Don't ever think "It won't happen to me, "I have no history of breast cancer in my family. Anyone who knows me knows that " I will not go quietly into that dark night " someone famous said that, but I don't know who, I did go to LaPine you know. Live life like it's your last day. So now it is Christmas of 2006 and I'm still here. Wow! There was a few moments that I didn't think that would happen. I continued to work through my treatments. My Oncologist thought I was crazy. He told me when I started Chemo that I would have to cut back to half a day at work, I said eight hours? he said no a half day... I told him that is a half day. He said I would be so sick I wouldn't be able to pick my head up let alone work 16 hours a day i...Expand for more
n hundred degree heat. I just looked at him and grinned and said You watch me. My hair was long enough to sit on and when it fell out I did miss it but I found out I have a pretty good looking cranium. No lumps and bumps. My hair is growing back and touched my neck now which drives me crazy. And it's curly...aurg! What do you do with this stuff. It is keeping my head warm so I can't really complain too much. As far as I know everything is good to go. I'm too ornery to die anyway. I still live everyday as if it is my last, I could get hit by a bus you know. Oh my goodness I haven’t been on this in forever. So a quick update. This year was my silver anniversary which of course means it was the 25th anniversary of my 29th birthday. So needless to say I am still on the planet. Still cancer free for now never say never. And still Ornery as ever. I’m sure none of you expected any less. My children are grown and married with children of their own I currently have four amazing grandsons and in February I’ll have another. I am still causing hate and discontent on Americas highways by just building and repairing them. You all want your roads fixed but nobody wants to be inconvenienced. So as you drive through my construction site and honk your horn angrily and give me the finger for slowing you down don’t be surprised if I wink and smile and blow you a kiss. It’s nice to see that over the years some of you have thought fondly of me. Hi school was a memorable time of my life.
