Jack's Story
Living on the beach in the beautiful village of Oriental, NC. Population 800. Been here for 25 years. I owned a yacht brokerage here in Oriental for twenty two years and retired five years ago. I married my trophy wife Carolien van de Weijgert in Willemstad,, Holland in 1986.. She's a pilot for American Airlines flying the,big Airbus mostly to the Caribbean. She's been an airline pilot for 40 years. She was my flight instructor when I got my pilots license. She tells everyone I was the worst student she ever had.. by. Very unlike me he's a great student.. He's played soccer since he was four and wrestles in high school. Last year at the NC state wrestling finals he won the bronze medal. A 15 year old teenager will keep you young! Being in the yacht brokerage business we did a lot of sailing. We had a 42 foot ketch named "MOJO". Many trips to The Abaco Islands in the Bahamas including one that Joe Smith was my able bodied crew. Seems like we went through a lot of rum that trip! I left the boat in Bermuda one summer. .I miss the mountains of E Tennessee but having sand in my shoe everyday isn't 'so bad.
