Jack's Story
Life
I wasn't happy w/the mult.choice q&a , as most didn't fit.
I'll try to make it clearer:
LIFE: I'm divorced . I have no children [ my ex-wife, Watserface, would give me chewing gum at bedtime as a birth control method ]. I live in Keasbey, N.J. In my free time I watch tv, read, or work on my hobbies
INDOORS: Collect old records, automotive books & magazines & collect & build replicas of historic racing Fords. I've also done some freelance writing/photog for automotive magazines.
OUTDOORS: I attend car shows & armpit music concerts.
I drive a Mustang [what else?]
PET PEEVES: Computers, phone menus, & toilet paper that shreds!
POLITICS: The dirtiest business there is! Have to take
each issue individually. I can't stand Bush-didn't like his old man, either.
IF I HAD $100 MIL.: I'd like to set up a program to work with/help handicapped/long-term illness children.
Haven't worked it out yet-hope to do something in the future [even w/out the millions].
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT LIFE RIGHT NOW ? Back in high school I never really knew where I was going . But all these years later I look around and here I am !
FRIENDS WOULD DESCRIBE ME AS: A brick short.
SCHOOL: HIGHEST LEVEL ED: B.S. in phys. ed. from Seton Hall Univ.
FAV.SUB: p.e. & English
LEAST FAV: ANY class w/Mrs. Murray! Had her for 2 yrs of algebra-I still have nightmares! She was MEAN! About my soph year at Seton Hall, they sent us to observe h.s. gym classes. I visited w/some teachers while there. Had NO intention of seeing Mrs. Murray, but she caught me in the hall between classes. She asked, so I told her I was in college. She pulled me into the class just as it was starting. Introducing me to the class, she said "...Expand for more
Jack should be an inspiration to you all . If HE can make it, ANYONE can!" OUCH ! It's nice to be remembered!
EXTRACURRICULARS: Baseball in high school . Rifle & football teams in college [ I'm small, but I can FLY if a big guy is chasing me ].
COLLEGE: DO I USE MY MAJOR IN MY WORK TODAY ? Not really, except that it can get physical.
WHAT DO I THINK WHEN I THINK OF COLLEGE ? I'm glad I'm out. I liked high school & knew I would miss it, but I hated college.
WHAT BEST DESCRIBES FIRST ROOMMATE: Felix Unger type. Hey- I hope that doesn't make me an Oscar Madison by default !
HOW DID I FEEL ABOUT FRATERNITIES? I didn't like them. I'm not a "joiner", & I didn't see the point. So many of those guys joined just because it was the thing to do.
WORKPLACE: I taught for a short time in Rahway schools [I even worked with Mr. Emmons a few times]. The schools had changed so much that I didn't like it, so I moved on.
Had a lot of jobs-many dead end- until I found my "calling" years ago, working with mentally handicapped and autistic adults. Believe me... it's different every day!
TALENT I RARELY USE AT WORK: well let's see... I can spit pretty far, but I can't use that skill inside. But outside it keeps my chin dry.
WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT AT WORK? The individuals you work with. You have to utilize every ounce of patience and empathy you can muster- and sometimes more. Their safety is paramount, but you have to protect yourself, also.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it [except the part about the armpit music concerts-I made that up !]. Maybe... 2 bricks.
Jack is leaving the building.
"PSSST ... Is he gone ?"
"I think so . "
"Darn ... what a bore !!!"
