Jack's Story
Life
I was known as Jack Kasak when I attended Chico Jr. High School and Chico Senior High.I changed my name legally to my birth fathers name in 1984. "Kuykendall". I lived in Decatur Illinois with my grandparants my junior year of high school. I had a great year, but I was very happy to come home to Chico and graduate with my friends whom I had grown up with. I entered the Army after graduating CHS in 1961 and spent the next 3 years with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC. I married Janice Earle in 1962 CHS class of 1962 and we have a son Aaron Kuykendall. I graduated from Sacramento State in 1970 and received my teaching credential the following year. I taught in the Sacramento City schools for 30 years. 10 years in elementary and 20 years teaching physical education in middle school. I also coached football for 5 years at McClatchy H.S. I retired two years ago. My son graduated from San Diego State with a degree in television and film. He was a film editor in L.A. for a couple of years. He married a woman he met while at San Diego State. and they disliked the life in L.A. and moved back to San Diego. They are now in business for themselves in Rancho Bernardo. contact with very many of my classmates through the years. Fred Teron has been a friend here in Sacramento and has kept me up to date. He stayed better connected and tells me about people we knew and ran around with during our years at CHS. When Glyen Brown passed away Fred Teron, Jim Fulton and I attended his funeral. I got to see several old friends from the past. It's too bad it takes a death to bring people together. I had been a member of Classmates.com and let it lapse. I saw that there were many new members so I updated my membership. I hear that we are having a reunion this year too. I spend quite a bit of time in San Diego. I really like the area and my son and daughter inlaw are there. I have relatives in Texas and Oklahoma and travel there 2 or three times a year. My father owned a home in Jamaica. Between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. I spent a lot of time with him and helped manage the place after his death. We had the villa for about 10 years. Jamaica is a beautiful place and being away from the tourist areas made it a much nicer experience. I really got to know the people and the culture. I hope I hear from someone reading my bio and contacts me. I would love to hear from you.
