Jack's Story
Life
Left Anchorage in September of 1975 and moved to Houston, Texas. Went back to Alaska in 1976 and worked on the North slope. Left Alaska for good in 1977 and moved to Lafayette, LA. (Right in the middle of Cajun Country) where I have lived ever since. Stayed single until 5 days after my 30th birthday and married my wife Cindy. She had a 2 year old daughter when we met so Amber is my Step-Daughter but only a formallity. I raised her as my own. Never had any children of my own. Got into the Electronics business shortly after moving to Lafayette and have managed to stay apart of it through all the changes. Currently I am an IT (Computer Support) for an Oilfield company. Managed to dodge Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita in 2005. Katrina passed 50 miles east of us and Rita passed 35 miles west of us. Still felt it's rath but not as bad as a lot of people I know here. Some of my wife's relatives got hit pretty good living in the New Orleans area. Lots of co-workers lost their homes completely in Rita. Lafayette is only 30 mile from the Gulf of Mexico and luck was sure with us in 2005. Being gone away for so long, I would love to make contact with any classmates. Even if you didn't know me that well I miss all of you. Had a lot of friends in the class of 1976 so shoot me an email. Anyone ever get down this way look me up. I would love to show you the sites. New Orleans is a 2 hr drive from here and Houston is about 3.5 hours. Love to here from everybody. It's sad not seeing your faces on the streets or running into old school mates in the stores. It has to be the worst thing about leaving Alaska. I still Try to get up there for the reunions and still have 2 sisters that still live in Anchorage so I do get up there every 3 or 4 years. Let me know if anyone would like to hook up and I'll let you know when I will be coming up again. Maybe we could get the ...Expand for more

New update 11/18/08
Still trying to dodge hurricanes. Got hit this year by Gustov. Will be a Grandfather for the 1st time this February. Will be coming up the summer of 2009. Will be bringing some true Cajuns with me (The Arceneauxs) I promised to take them fishing so I'm looking forward to showing some of these Cajun's where I came from.
Will update the dates I will be in. Would love to have lunch or something with any of my classmates. Hope to see some of you.
New Update 4/21/16
Found out that I had Esophageal Cancer in April of 2010. Found to be in the 4th stage. Given a 15 - 25 % survival chance.(Really??) Went through Chemotherapy and Radiation from April through August with very good results. In September 2010 had my Esophagus removed and had my stomach sewed straight in to my throat. As of September 1015 I celebrated 5 years of being cancer free. I had some great doctors, but they also had a good patient. I have 3 wonderful grandchildren ranging fro 7 years to 6 months. They have made me feel young again and I am doing great. Cancer treatment and having my stomach crammed up between my lungs has left me with 3rd stage COPD but that's better than the alternative. Still living in Lafayette, LA. but get up to Anchorage regularly still having both of my sisters still living there. Please look me up if you knew me. I am on Facebook. Very fond memories of Dimond and the faculty, classmates and friends I left behind. Even though the halls no longer stand. Talk about getting old. My brother was a member of the first senior class to graduate from Dimond. Wishing all of you a wonderful Life. I would very much like to also get on the invitation list to the 1976 class reunion list. had a lot of friends in that class.
