Jack's Story
When I left High School, I went on to UNC in Greeley. Brian Connolly was my room mate in the dorm. I made some really good friends there, and became an Emergency Medical Technician. My interests went from Engineering to Medicine. I moved to CSU in Fort Collins as a Occupational Therapy Major. From There I went Pre-Med. My life took a dark turn, and I ended up having a nervous breakdown and have battled with depression ever since. I left Higher education without a degree and started the life that I was aptly named for. Jack of all trades master of none. I worked for a firm that sold Audio and video equipment and distributed these weird little disks call CDs. I joined the family business and was involved in building 2 large buildings in Broomfield, A battered woman's shelter in Arvada, and several homes. The housing market was terrible, and I had to find something else to do. A friend of mine from CSU helped me get a job doing Computer operations for a company that we soon be purchased by ADP. I bounced between there and Hanifen, Imhoff until I became the Associate VP of Information Services. I purchased a home in Thornton. It is an older house, but it was big. I wanted to get as much room as possible so I could have my mother move out of the little hole in the wall that she was living in to join me in the house. That way I could look after her and take care of her. I finally could get a couple of dogs, and have a fa...Expand for more
mily (sort of). Things were great. I had a job and a group of folks I enjoyed working with. Of course, we all go let go in a reduction in force, and the Denver office was closed. Somewhere along the way my folks broke up, and my father died. I found work fairly quickly due to my computer background working for a company in Longmont called Intrado. The are responsible for over half of the 911 call routing in the country. I worked up until I was the Supervisor of Wireless Technical operations. Things looked pretty good again. So, I got Laid off again. It took me a year and a half to get another job. I was a contractor for Lucent testing 911 in Utah and New York. I was hired by a company out of California that makes test equipment for 911 call testing with cell phones. They lost their account with Sprint, and I was laid off again. See a trend? I now work for Cricket Communications as an E911 Engineer. I help train others, and design and maintain systems. I live in Thornton and drive to the Tech Center every day. Yuck. I am working on starting my own company to better the way 911 is tested nation wide. It seems that I have come full circle back to servicing Emergency Medicine. That makes me happy. My heart lives to serve others in their time of need. I am still single after all of this time. I can't believe that I am 2 years from being 50. Lord knows I wanted a real family, but it just didn't work out that way.
