Jack's Story
Life after graduation-- I went the Citadel. That failed attempt led me to a career in bartending. Four years at East Bay Trading Company later, I went to the College of Charleston where I eventually settled on a major in Geology. Two years later,I was married and moved to Atlanta, transferred to Georgia State where I finished my Geology degree. I went right into consulting after graduation, but my career never really got off. I like to blame my wife for making me be so involved with our kids (she was a DM in retail-late hours, travel, etc) but that wouldn't be fair. So, after bouncing around working with other consultant firms for 15 years, I decided to go out on my own. I named my company after my two boys Daniel and Kevin (Dankev Environmental). I haven't looked back.
College
Citadel (Fall 1981 to Summer 1982)- Nob year only. Academic waste of time as Electrical Engineer. I had to retake most of my 1st semester classes during 2nd semester. Was confined to campus more times...Expand for more
than not. What the hell was I thinking? I bartended the next four years to forget that mess.
College of Charleston (Summer 1986 to Spring 89). Fell in love with Geology. Went on cool field trips and the school that I relate to most. The professors were awesome. Worst memory, pulling an all-nighter to write a final term paper for my paleontology class and forgot to 'manually'save before doing the spell check. These were days of the 386: DOS based, low RAM, no auto save/auto recovery, piece of crap computers. I had overloaded the RAM, the computer locked up, I had to reboot and re write my entire paper.I still made a B.
Georgia State University (Winter 1989- Summer 1991). Finished my Geology Degree with Chemistry Minor (Ms. Brown would have been proud). Field Camp in Montana: 6 weeks in and around Yellowstone and Missoula were awesome. Field mapping sucked but being in Missoula was like visiting the Old West. One bar that we frequented had been there since the late 1800's.
