Jackie's Story
Life
I moved around with my family when I was young until I graduated from Highschool in Tracy, Ca.. Went to Delta College in Stockton and then CBC and made some great friends. Moved to Modesto and started teaching at a christian school, Orangeburg Christian School. Met and married Dennis. He joined the Army. We moved to Washington state. Had my daughter in '92 while stationed in Florida. Loved being a mom.Daughter was diagnosed with MD. Moved back to Washington and started teaching in public school. Blessed to find great churches to worship and sing at over the years. Moved to Coronado, Ca.in 2002. My life pretty much revolved around my daughter and her needs. She had multiple surgeries, needed physical therapy and all kinds of medical care. I found being a mom to a child with special needs a challenge that gave me great satisfaction in knowing that I was doing what I was created to do. When Denay passed away last year I was devastated. Much of my identity was wrapped up in caring for her. Not only that but, we were close friends...Expand for more
. Anyone who knew us could tell you that. She had a great wit and sense of style. I was lost in many ways without her. Her death forced me to look at myself and my marriage differently. We've had some major rough patches but I think that we're going to make it. We know that Denay is with the Lord and have wondered what the heck we're going to do now. Dennis retired from the Army just months ago and we moved away from Coronado to a quiet desert town that I grew up in. Our house is big and the beauty of this place is comforting. I'm teaching Continuation School at the High School and find the challenge a nice change. I hope to be hired as an Elementary teacher but am trying to be flexible. I'm preparing to lead worship by myself and with my sisters for womens' retreats and gatherings. Dennis is painting houses and loves it. He says it's therapeutic. My convertible is therapeutic ! Family is more precious to me now than ever. I can't wait to get to heaven and see my girl. I hope Jesus likes blonde jokes cause she knew a lot of them....
