Jackie's Story

WOW--where do I begin? It's been quite a journey. I got pregnant after graduation and surrendered my baby girl to adoption. It was a difficult decision, but I knew it was the right choice. She was born 4/23/70. I married the baby's father in 1972 (I think) and we were divorced in 1977 (I think). My life was out of control and I was trying to fill a void in my life with everything imaginable; you name it, I probably did it--I should probably write a book! In 1976 I met a guy at Brennan's (another long story)--yeah, while I was still married, and hooked up with him. He was separated and had 3 girls. I moved in with him and it was during this phase of my life that things changed radically for me. I was searching for love and acceptance and would do just about anything to get it. I tried to forget the past and the pain of the past by drinking to excess, getting high, etc. Little did I know that what I was doing wasn't going to release me from that pain and hurt. I wasn't going to find what I needed in this "world." Finally, in 1978, the very thing I needed to fill that void in my life was satisfied through the saving grace of God's own son, the Messiah of Israel, the Christ. I obtained a relationship with the One whose promises are true. I was liberated, I was finally set free. I was raised with religion and that did nothing for me; it never satisfied. Religion is not the answer. I moved out of the house with the man I was living with and went back home to Dodge Rd. If I was going to have a relationship with this man, it was going to be under God's terms. We dated and remained abstinate. Of course during this time, he didn't understand anything that was going on with me. He thought I had lost my mind. But, God had a plan and He was the one that made everything new. He did the work and what a beautiful work He did. In 1979 we were married. So, we've been married almost 30 years, and it wasn't all easy. A lot transpired during those years; and I mean a lot! We moved to PineCity, NY, just outside of Elmira. We were there about 3 years and returned to the Wmsvl area. I began working for USAir in 1983 and that job gave us great opportunities to travel. I was never able to have any other children. I remember crying out to God and asking Him for kids, and He told me He gave me 3 girls. When I said it wasn't the same as having m...Expand for more
y own, He said, make them your own. Woah! That was a biggie. I made them my own. It was shortly after that that I began my quest to find my biological daughter. I knew that I couldn't really do anything until she was 18, so in 1988 I registered with a group called ALMA and began my search. For about 5 years I searched and got no where. I finally cried out and said, Lord if You want this to happen, it has to be You that does the work, I can't do it anymore. So, on Jan 20, 1997, I'm in the basement checking my email (the computer was new to me and I was just learning the ins-and-outs of it) when I saw an email that had Hello in the subject line. I didn't recognize the sender, but I thought I give the email a quick glance over to see what this person wanted and if it was junk mail, I would just delete it. All of a sudden, there were these keywords that were jumping off the page. My birthdate, SS #, parents names, etc. It was HER! She found me! It was one of the most exilerating times of my life. God in His goodness gave me one of the desires of my heart. It took my breath away. It was almost as exilerating the day Christ came into my life. She is a stunt woman and lives just outside of NYC. We met in March of '97 and continue to communicate via email. She has a relationship with another stunt person--he usually does the stunts that require fire. My three girls are married and they each have children of their own. My husband, Rick and I have 7 grandchildren. Their pictures can be seen on Facebook. Our house is a very, very fine house--with two cats in the yard (they're actually in the house), life used to be so hard, now everything is easy cause of YOU... I'm still working at USAirways as a Shift Manager, and would like to retire. My Mom died in March 2008 and it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I miss her. My Dad died in Jan, 2004. That was a difficult time as well, but nothing like losing my mother. My brothers are well. Greg is married and lives in Jamestown and is a zone sergeant with the NYS Police. Jim lives outside of Tampa, FL , single but in a long term relationship with Kathy, and installs alarm systems for ADT. Hope my story didn't bore you. It's the "readers digest" version. I notice that I have over 15371 characters remaining, but I'll save those in case I want to continue the saga. God Bless
