When you need them most they seem to be gone,
I've been through it so I'm not a rook, but I feel like a pawn.

I wish I had an answer to "Who am I?"
Because in my view, I'm just a regular guy.
In my view of myself, my humility reigns,
My persona has largely been effected by growing pains.
Not physical as much as emotional stresses,
I'm overly responsible in matters such as cleaning up messes.
I'm a good guy and I keep to myself most of the time,
And I usually let my emotions out through rhyme.
Because of this people think I'm caring and shy,
And they believe that I am a compassionate guy.
Others also appreciate I am myself, which is real,
And they can come to me with how they feel. People who don't know me usually don't have a clue,
About my family situation or that my favorite color is blue.
So many people tend to be superficial or fake,
If I see this, I have a hard time giving them a break.
I think people get the impression that I'm nice,
And I don't think I usually do anything to make them think twice.
People's first impressions of me are usually true,
Because I try to be myself in everything I do.
This can come from school, work, or sports,
People often realize I'm the same on and off the courts.
What is the most important information about me? Well there is definitely more than the eye can see.
But that should be true for everyone around,
That's just not the case, is what I have found.
I play sports but I'm not the typical jock,
And if I don't need to, I usually don't talk.
Like the Reebok slogan says... "I am who I am."".
