Jacque's Story
After I graduated from Phoenix Union, I attended Phoenix College then transferred to Northern Arizona University. I graduated from Arizona University with a teaching degree. I taught Physical Education at Phoenix Indian High School where I also coached softball and was the cheerleader sponsor, too, for 3 1/2 years. There was a Reduction in Force (RIF)so I was released from my teaching position because I did not have the years. I did not work as a teacher for about a year. I went back to Phoenix Indian High School as a Permanent Substitute Teacher. Then the school closed permanently. During these years, I got married to a wonderful Navajo man, for 28 yrs, and had a baby girl who is now 26 years old. I now have ...Expand for more
two beautiful grandbabies, Iyanna,5 years old and Anthony who is 10 months. Other things that occured in my life during this time, I received my elementary teaching degree and my Masters Degree at the University of Phoenix. Then I worked on my principal's creditials. During this time, I was teaching on the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community as an elementary teacher. First as a third grade teacher for 1 year, then a combination 5th/6th grade class for 6 years, and finally 6th grade only for 3 years. I became the assistant principal for the same school for 4 years. I am currently the principal and I have had this position going on 6 years. This is what has been going on with me since I left Phoenix Union.
