Jagtar's Story
Not sure what to say here. Went to SUNY after high school, got an engineering degree and worked designing nuclear plants. After that I got married (to a nice Jewish girl from New York - talk about a culture clash at the wedding), moved to Philadelphia to get an MBA and then moved to Manhattan and went to work on Wall Street for five years. After the 2001 tech crash, we moved to DC, had a couple of kids, and I became of venture capitalist. Our kids are now seven and four. They are absolutely wonderful - the joy of my life. we'd had dinner as a family maybe five times his whole life?) - so I took a job in mergers and acquisitions for Xerox. I can't believe I'm back in WNY. Hated it growing up, but now I see what a wonderful place it is to raise kids (great schools in Rochester; fairly diverse where we live; none of the pretentiousness of NYC or DC). The kids are enjoying the huge back yard & my wife loves how friendly people are here. They love it - and we can shoot up to Toronto every time we need our fix for the big city lights. That said, we just passed the year and half mark here and I'm starting to miss the finance world - who knows what's next?
