Don's Story
Life
I changed my name is 1993 to Jahi Sauk Simbai, for non-religious reasons. Jahi (ja-HEE) means 'dignity' in Swahili, Sauk (sa-OOK) is a tribal name and Simbai (sim-BYE) means 'strength' in Shona.
School
Big ups to Mr. Wallace. Could have never been an engineer without his help! I'll ALWAYS love Melanie Shea <wink>! What a pair we were. Yo, Jason Taylor, it has been a minute. Good times were had up there in Summit, but there's no regrets for moving out (I ain't ever moving back). Big hugs for Lana and Nikki. I would have loved to see you guys at the reunion. Summit less than 10 times since I graduated, but looking back, I wouldn't change much. I wish Cory Weirson was still here and all those we lost too early.
College
I went to the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1990-1995 and then from 1999-2003. I got a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering and an MBA.
Workplace
Started working for Ball Aerospace as a Structural Analyst after I graduated in 1995. I left Ball in 1999 to work for nCUBE Tech and stayed there for a year. From late 2000 to early 2006 I worked for the Minority Engineering Program at Colorado School of Mines. In 2006 I moved to the Graduate Office at Mines and so far...so good.
