Jake's Story

Attended Washington & Lee Univ freshman year. Sigma Nu and track team. Had too much fun so turned myself over to the Jesuits at Loyola College (now University). Graduated 1974 BS biology. Started career in eye banking by recovering donor eye tissue for transplantation. Married Martha Shaw Clark of North Carolina. Lived in Los Angeles 1984. Moved from Baltimore to Washington Univ St. Louis in 19...Expand for more
89 and then worked for Mid-America Transplant Services. Started two eye bank networks. Moved to Apex, NC in 1998. Three (3) children - Michelle in Mt. Pleasant, SC (two grandsons); Jay in Charlotte, NC and Kathryn in Orlando, FL. Now working with Lung Banks of America, Chapel Hill, NC on research to transplant lungs from non-heart-beating donors and developing a bioengineered cornea for transplant.
