James's Story
Life
After school I went to Campbell University for one year. I did not want to go to college at that time so the summer after my first semester, I joined the Army reserves and became a medic. After basic training and advanced training I served regular weekend duties with the army, and went to school part-time at NCSU for a couple of semesters. I worked for the postal service for a while, then went to work in EMS. I worked in EMS for a while until I figured out that I couldn't pay the bills or have what I wanted in life on that salary. So I went to work at Miles in Clayton. The name changed to Bayer a few years ago and will change to ...Expand for more
something else this year or next year. Currently, I work at Bayer as a trainer for Fractionation (a production department). I have been at Bayer for 10 years. I also attend NCSU part-time taking a couple classes at a time. Since that leaves me so much spare time, I volunteer as a paramedic at Clayton Rescue 48 to 70 hours per month. To make sure I don't get bored I work as a fooball official some evenings and weekends and hunt or fish if possible. I am married with three children. I have two boys and one girl. They are 8, 10, and 11. My wife went to Clayton. Her name was Carey Ruth at the time. We still live in the Clayton area.
