James's Story

Life Married in 1973 while overseas with USMC/State Department attached to the American Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- still married to the same wonderful lady. I have to admit that our wedding was a true diplomatic incident. We met at a blind date at a cocktail party at the Canadian High Commissiner's residence and when we were married two years and a month later, it was in the Country's Catholic Cathedral, over 400 attended, including representatives of fourteen embassies or high commissions, AND there were two CIA agents and one KGB agent that we knew of in attendence. I have studied Music Ed. at The Ohio State University, then Theology at a small school in Tennessee. I taught music at the junior high level for one year ("Mr. Holland" is a trap!) After that I decided to give up honest work and went to law school. I have had a Family Law practice in Southern California for 12 years now. I have studied and become a certified mediator preparing to open my own private mediation office while serving as a "judge pro tem" and Counsel for minor's for Riverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles Counties, California. I am still involved in music, though (still keeps me sane - well, saner). Only bass trombone, but that is enough. Played with a professional brass band in Phoenix, AZ for a year and was declared the top band at the Western regional Brass Band competition in Las Vegas, 1999 [CD's available ;-)]. In 2000, was in a concert band in Ontario, CA that performed a salute to California's 150th birthday; show was n...Expand for more
ominated for an Emmy award. I am preparing a bass trombone solo with concert band that will be a world premiere of a major piece -- only played with brass bands so far by Doug Yeo, bass trombonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, I also play in the Riverside, CA concert band, the oldest volunteer, year round performing band in the country (first performance, July 4 1876), and the Loma Linda University Church Brass Ensemble (broadcast live worldwide by dish). Other than that, I had been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2000, but discovered a series of glyconutrients that have helped me with a complete life change and I have been liberatingly free of pain, symptoms, and medictions for over three years now - much to the frustration of the Loma Linda University Medical Center Department of Rheumatology. School Who was my biggest crush???? She always knew who she was, but waited too long to answer, sorry, You Know Who. My most inspirational teacher would have to be a tie between Mr. Gagliardi at Reseda and Mr. Near at Brookhaven for their constant reinforcing my musical abilities and driving me to greater levels. Would I do it all over again? Sure! My craziest school memories would have to be the Junior year at Reseda and the Latin Club enter into the annual parade. Never did quite get the hang of sitting while wearing a toga - sorry 'bout that you in the audience. Beyond that ... anyone else remember "The Purlpe Avenger" at Reseda? Wild and zany times ... and he may ride again if given the proper motivation!
