James's Story

Wow! Nearly twenty years later! Hard to believe time would fly so fast. Nevertheless, I still have a ton of great memories from high school and it makes me smile to see your faces, children, etc., and to read your stories. And if you haven't written one of these yet GET TO WRITING! Many are much more interesting and colorful than mine, but here it goes... After high school I spent a year in Precott, AZ. at an aeronautical university. (I Loved AZ and may retire in Sedona..already thinking of that is pretty sick...yikes!!) Thought I wanted to fly for the Air Force. Big military cutbacks that year changed my mind as it turns out that instead of 150 students competing for 10 to 15 pilot slot, it was 150 competing for 2 slots. I didn't like my odds and came back home to Casper in search of plan B. Four years later I graduated from the University of Wyoming and applied for law school. I chose to attend the University of Nebraska because it was a bargain, I had a good friend living there with whom I could crash, and loved Nebraska football. The timing could not have been better because after I brought all that good luck with me from Wyoming, Nebraska won three national championships in four years. Then my luck must have run out. My senior year at UW (Fall 1993), a hot, young lady named Lisa Hare strutted through the liquor store in which I was working (turns out she hardly ever drinks). I told my co-worker who knew her "She is hot, you oughta set me up." Her response "She's single." Neither of us wer...Expand for more
e looking for anything steady or permanent, so you know how that goes. A blind date later and the rest is history. (I know what your thinking, "Yeah! She must be blind alright"). We married in the Summer of 1995. She also attrended the University of Nebraska and received her master of social work degree in 1996. We live in North Platte, Nebraska, (small town of about 26,000) and have been here since 1997. We moved here after school as a stop on our way back to Wyoming or Colorado. But as our priorities changed and we became more involved in the community (and I developing my clientele) we decided this was home indefinitely. It has been a great fit. Denver, Lincoln and Omaha are all about three hours away. We need to travel for culture and shopping, but otherwise it has been a great place to live and raise a family. We have 3 children, Nick (7), Delaney (5), and Carlee (2). It doesn't get any better than being a parent. Hopefully the pics I post will tell you more about them than I could ever say. I have been practicing law since 1997. I enjoy it and find it rewarding on many different levels. Lisa works part time as a social worker at the local oncology center. My mom still lives in Casper, and I get back once in a while. Not often enough. I hope all of you are well and would love to hear from you. So send me an e-mail but don't give me any crap about how old I look! I see that some of you look just like you did back then!! Must be rough! Take care and God bless!! Jimmy B.
