James's Story
Two weeks after graduating I was in the Air Force and on my way to Europe and Africa. I travelled extensively and left the AF with the rank of Sergeant and a honorable discharge. I joined the Navy. The drab of Minnesota could not keep me after I had seen half the world. I left the Navy as a Petty Officer with an honorable discharge, met a girl named June Ann Senger, Redwood High Class of "70. and married her in 1974. I joined the Army as a 26 year old PFC. Eleven years later I was a Master Sergeant, E-8, with enough time in to retire. Though I feel I would have made E-9, the highest Enlisted rank, I had a lucrative offer from the Kansas Correctional System to join their ranks. My job in the Army was running military prisons and I had been Provost Sergeant (Senior Corrections NCO) for the 5th Infantry Division. I worked for Kansas for two decades and retired again. I quit the job force at age 62, own my home and...Expand for more
car, have cash in the bank, and am getting fat.
June and I have 3 sons all with college degrees. The two youngest both have B.S.'s and the oldest a Masters Degree. I graduated with "Distinction" from Park University and hold a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration.
There are few people from my High School class that I would care to see again, though there are some I would like to punch in the nose. I won't attend class reunions as it is my understanding the same persons who hung together in school hang together at the class reunions. The uppity remain uppity. I don't need that as I've been more places, accomplished more goals, am better off financially, and am way more happily married than class hot shots such as Patty Asslesson who now flounders .
For all you hot shots, one's class popularity and/or grades is not an indicator .of life success or happiness.. But I'm sure you've learned that.
I have succeeded.
