James's Story
After high school I joined the U.S. Navy and toured the South Pacific and the Far East. After four years in the Navy I got out and came back to El Monte where I worked as an apprentice Diesinker, (a kind of machinist). I was married for under one year when I was around 24. It was a bad idea. I partied pretty heavily until I was 36 and then gave up that lifestyle and really started living my life to its fullest. I remarried at 42 and am very happy. my garage and go to the gym 2-3 times a week. I drive a cement mixer now and my company is paying for me to attend college and become an accountant where, when I am finished they will place me in a position to use my degree. I live in Oxnard Ca. today and own a condo one mile from the beach. The step-kids are all grown and it is just the wife and I and our little weiner-dog Jaime. I also ride my motorcycle with a group and daily to work and back. Life is good for me.
