James's Story
I graduated from North Rowan High School in 1960. After a year milling around doing nothing I enlisted in the Army (1961) after basic I was stationed in Byron SAC defense. Upon discharge in 1964 I entered the NC National Guard for one year. Also, I started working for a steel fabraction company as a draftsman. a athletic sports pad mfg. In 2005 my wife and I bought a coffee shop in downtown Salisbury NC which we still operate. Between basic and my regular duty station in 1961 I married the former Kay Honeycutt. In 1963 my oldest son Tad was born in 1970 my youngest son Keith was born. Kay and I now have three grandchildren, Suzanne (16) and Spencer (14), (Tad's Children) and Ella (5) (keith's Child). Would be more than glad to hear from anyone stationed in Byron during this time.
