James's Story
Some of you may remember I moved from Richmond to Pinole in 1972 for my senior year so I'm class of 73 but technically not a RUHS graduate. Pinole either. I graduated from Gompers and then when I got out in the real world I straightened up like most of us do and I've done ok since, staying out of trouble for the most part.
After high school I lived in Crocket, Richmond, El Sobrante, El Cerrito, and finally settled in Oakland where I've been so long it feels like I'm from here. I never married but somehow I managed to end up with a 30 something son (lives nex...Expand for more
t door to me) and 20 something daughter (lives in Honolulu). I owned a large auto towing and repair shop in Oaklnad for a decade and left that for the I.T. field (you know, computers and such). I.T. went real well until 2001 when it all fell apart (the dotcom bust). So I found work as a union building maintenance mechanic and that's been ok. My most recent work has been as Building Engineer in Data Centers.
Btw; If anybody works where the maintenance crew are IUOE (that's Operating Engineers) I'm looking for a new place. FiveOneZeroSixSixSixFourOneFourNine.
