James's Story
Life
My mother died suddenly when I was 14 and my subsequent teenage years were a disaster. I attended three high schools and was expelled from two of them. At one point I was barred from attending any school in New York state, so I went to El Paso, Texas, for a year. I passed by a narrow margin that year.
I didn't graduate from high school. I dropped out in senior year--genius that I was at that time.
If you knew me in high school you saw me smoking pot on and off school property, or taking up space in Mr. Levy's office. I played in bands around Rocky Point, NY, most often at the Sons Of Italy and private parties.
I got a G.E.D. in 1975, then sobered up at age 30. I went to university later in life and earned a BA in Journalism and a Master's in Communication and Infor...Expand for more
mation Studies. I moved around quite a bit, then finally settled on the New Jersey Shore.
I'm still into writing, performing, and producing music. I like to lift weights, explore the New Jersey Shore, and play with my band, The Riff Surfers. I have a page on MySpace under the username jimmydiamonde.
I am currently separated from my wife of 13 years and I live in an apartment in Long Branch, NJ. We're heading toward divorce, but not in any big hurry.
Right now I'm into reinventing my Life, although I suppose I've been doing that since early childhood. Maybe now the difference is that I'm into the finer points of it all.
I'm healthy and happy and looking forward to the next adventure. All of my best adventures have happened when I've had the courage to look inward.
