James's Story
After getting out of school, I continued to work for the Daily Review Newspaper as a telegraph operator. I started college at Pan America in 1963 to 1965. I was going to stay out for a semester and got bad news. The Army wanted me. I had a brother that was already in the army so I volunteered for the Air Force and was inducted in there on the 16th of January 1966. I was an Aircraft Mechanic for 23 years and then I retired. Not being able to sit at home I started back to work 6 months later at Sheppard AFB Texas doing the same job as I did in the military but the pay was much higher. rs tried to save my toe and my leg but was not able to do so because I had blockage in my leg and not letting blood down to my foot. In the long run I lost my leg below the knee. I retired from that job and have been doing nothing but sitting around and living the life I wanted to for a long time. Hope you guys and gals can understand this had a few drinks before I started. Forgive me for any misspell words, my fingers just move too fast for me to correct all of them. Enjoy and I'm getting around like I still have both of my legs. I drive with no special help with the car and tgo on trips. Drove to Edinburg to our 50th class reunion so think I get around pretty good. Enjoy and take care.
