James's Story
Life
Never did get my college degree. I have some college credits, but seriously burned out.
Currently live outside of Washington, DC (Montgomery County). Nearly got killed, twice, in '95 & '96 due to moronic drivers. Two cars totalled within 6 months of each other - so I have lower disc issues. Could have been worse, much, much worse.
I work for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and enjoy doing this kind of work (administrative, IT/IM, etc.) and just got promoted to a Licensing Assistant (kind of a cross between admin and project management). I've been with them since 1996.
Been married since 1998 (yes, to the same woman, sheesh!). I love her dearly, but we drive each other nuts sometimes. A.K.A. "a normal relationship." She works for the National Insitutes of Health.
We own a condo and have five cats - want a couple?
My wife and I just replaced our "baby" Land Rover and got a Honda Element. The wife choose the car, I got to choose the color (Atomic Blue). Next time, it's my turn!
No kids at the present. I have the standard-issue parents-in-law (well, nothin...Expand for more
g is normal about them :-) ), three brothers-in-law (I like all of them), two of them are married and have 1 niece, another niece due in October 2006, and another niece/nephew due after that.
My free time: I'm a computer geek. I love working with Photoshop, InDesign, XHTML, et al and had one of my Quark projects on display in 10 Washington Metro stations (advertising for a non-profit group). I'm currently working on getting a Certificate in Electronic Pre-Press.
I also attend sci-fi/fantasy conventions and rennaissance festivals (used to work at the MD site for 7 seasons) around the country. I also dabble in creative stuff like painting, digital art, photography, and costume design. You ought to see me during Halloween -- I'm like a kid in a candy store!
My latest physical activity is Poi Spinning. It would take to long to explain, just google it and look at the pictures. Yes, I do that, just not with stuff on fire ... yet. But I'm twisted enough to do it and working my way to that level.
Did I mention I have 5 cats? Are you sure you wouldn't like one or two of them? :-D
