James's Story
Life
Well:) I don't really want to go to a lot of trouble here:):) Lets face it a guy could write a novel to cover 25 years!
What has the last 25 years meant to me:) For starters .....I don't feel 25 years older:) I still work out usually 5 or 6 days a week. I stayed in Torrance until 1990....long enough to get an Associates in Science from El Camino and work for Hughes and Northrop for a while. I moved to Utah in February of 1990. Got married, bought a home, and started a family. The marriage lasted 5 years and taught me the value of asking a lot more questions about someone before I marry them:):):):)
I ended up with custody of four really great kids and have raised them alone 24/7 for the past 12 years or so. The two oldest were hers from a previous marriage but I have I adopted them. It has been quite the little road trip for me and my little crew but we seem to be heading for a happy ending after a sustained super human effort:):):):)
Some where along the way I got a US patent for a machine design and manufacturing process that I am a little bit proud of! I also went back and finished up a Bachelors in Business. I did that ....well.....because I needed to...because my dad was dying at the time and always wanted me to get a degree in ANYTHING:):):):):) Sadly he passed away a month or two before I graduated but I know he was there with me. I think that having older parents and a dad who had lived through WWII and the great depression really has helped me with my value system over the years and I can only hope that I have passed that on to my kids. Hopefully they will have noticed that all that struggling I did trying to go to school and raise them also has had its benefits:)
We usually drive home every year in our old motorhome to enjoy the beach and do the usual theme park tour that I took for granted while I lived there. I try and force them to go to...Expand for more
places like the Labrea Tar pits to get a little education while we are at it:):):) All of my family is still there so we get spoiled while we are having the time of our lives:):):):)
Well....I am obviously leaving out a lot::):) Life is good and I cant really complain too much even though I do!! I hope that any of my friends that I have lost touch with out there are doing well. I have kept in touch with a few of you but not too many.....that what shy people do ya know:):):)
If anyone is interested I have a several email accounts ...jjkjarrett(at) ?????????..(you'll have to guess here because apparently they don't want anyone to get in touch unless you pay:):):) ..who knows maybe I will stick a crowbar in my wallet eventually:):):)..would love to hear from you:)
Take Care, Jim
School
Who was my biggest crush:):):) If I wouldn't speak up then....what makes you think I will speak up now:):):)....besides its like 25 years too late:):):):):)
Mr Kreisworth really was the one who believed in me....who would have figured that a guy who made his life in technical jobs would be most influenced by his art teacher:):):):)
Do it over????? I think not:):):):) Life is good...has been good...and I assume will continue to be good.....but it hasnt been all that easy:) Besides if I did it over I might change something and ruin it!
I really cant in good conscience really tell you about the best times:):) What if my kids read this:):):):)
College
I plugged through college the hard way. One class at a time over most of a life time:):) The only memories I have was of being absolutely determined not to let my dad down:)
Workplace
Hughes, Northrop, Honeywell, and now the Civil Service:):):):) ...enough said....it really doesnt get much better than that:):)...well, except for the lottery:)
