Jim's Story
The Military has been good for me. I took a "UNIQUE" road to retirement. With all the switching of services and trying jobs I was not cut out for, It took me 12 years to do the first 10 and 17 to do the last 10.
My only regret is recruiting duty. If anyone reading this is considering recruiting duty "DON'T". It will cost you whatever family life you have and as many morals as they can get.
On Dec 15 I will go home for the last time to the wife and kids. 3 are still in the house. This last stint has been hardest on JB (my 7...Expand for more
year old). I got mobilized for this war as a trainer when he was less than 2. I was in a position to go home on an average of twice a month. The last 16 months I've been in Kansas where I can only see him about every 4-6 months. My unit in Wisconsin decided they would not lose me when I went sanctuary and ended up losing me to another unit in another state 700 miles away and my family and I got screwed because they knew more than everybody else..
J.B is making his "Daddy do" list so we can make up for some of the time lost.
