James's Story
Life
A little updating is necessary. Life has been good. After a struggle to remain sane and graduate from HS (barely), I enlisted in the Navy, spending the next 20.5 years traveling from France to Japan, Guam, the
Phillipines, Viet Nam, Antarctica and New Zealand, California, Virginia, and Illinois. I have now been married 4 times. I recently married one of my HS flames, Suzanne Huffstetler (Poly Class of 64) in Oct
07. Our paths crossed in late 2006 on this very site. Life works in mysterious ways. I have a daughter who lives here in Burleson with her husband. I returned to Ft Worth in 1998 after an absence of 36 years. I also live in Burleson, and have since 2003.
Looking back on HS it was a great time. I still am very proud to have grown up in POLY. I remember the Thursday nights of dancing and hanging out at the old Rec Center on Beach at Rosedale. I was pretty much of a regular. Still like to dance as a matter of fact. The Clover and those late nights.
Great time and much simpler then.
School
Although I didn't graduat...Expand for more
e from Poly tranferring to Tech to graduate, Poly will always be like family to me. I have attended several colleges along the trail of these many years. From Old Dominion U in Virginia, to Southern Illinois, Ventura College in Ca. to Claremont College in Ca, and the Overseas Campus of the University of Maryland. While in the Navy I got my BS in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Sciences from UCLA in 1975. I also got a BA in Management from Angelo State University, in San Angelo, Tx in 1992..
Workplace
After retiring from the Navy in 1982, I went to work for the National Weather Service. Worked at El Paso, San Angelo, Houston, Colorado Springs, and Fort Worth. I retired on August 3, 2004 at Fort Worth after 22 years. I have found that retirement is not for me... it was just a bad idea. I went back to work in October 06 part time doing the weather observing duties at Dallas Love Field, and that blossommed into a Full Time job here as the Manager. Never thought I would ever spend this much time in Dallas. The drive is getting longer every day.
