James's Story
After Graduation, attended Worcester Industrial Technical Institute in Worcester. Went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation from 1969-1973. Joined the Massachusetts Air Nation Guard in September 1969.Was a member of the 101 TCS/ACS. Left DEC to become a full time technician for the Mass ANG working on microwave equipment. Earned an Associate Degree in Engineering at Worcester Junior College in 1975. Remained as a guardsman but left full time technician job to work for Raytheon Company in Sudbury Ma in November 1976.. As a guardsman with the 101st I was a microwave technician, Job Controller, Satellite Communications technician, Wideband technician, and Quality Assurance Specialist. in September 1998, the 101stACS was closed down and I transferred to the 267th Combat Communications Squadron on Cape Cod. mmer I worked man-days and an AGR tour. My boss in QA left to take a full time Navy job so I bid on his job and was hired as the Quality Assurance Specialist in February 2001 where I remained until my retirement from the MASS ANG in 2009. I served for 39years, 9 months and 11 days (but who's counting)! When I retired from the Air National Guard, I worked for the Census Bureau for the 2010 census as a Group Leader. I then went to work for Kellogg's (that's right, the cereal people) as a Part Time Merchandiser. I was there a little over eight years before we were all let go. I then took a job with Roche Bros. (a grocery store) and I have been with them for going on six years. I work as a part time grocery clerk. I presently live in Mashpee, Ma on Cape Cod. I am happily married to my second wife, Nancy D. (Hogan) Mayou who I met in the ANG. We have four children, Nicole, John, Peter and Bobby. From my first marriage I have two children, James II and Lori Ann. I have a number of grandchildren.
