Jim's Story
Life
Oh, where to start. I lived in California, Indiana, and Texas prior to coming to North Andover, MA in early 1974. I played a lot of tennis which shaped my life during the high school years. Post graduation, I entered the Air Force where I served for just over 20 years. Saw and lived in most of the northern hemisphere and wound up in the place I vowed to always avoid, the Pentagon. Worked there for a little over two years, and was given an offer I couldn't refuse with a defense contractor. Still doing, and loving, that.
School
School biography? I thought biographies were only written on something one wants to remember! I played sports, primarily tennis, and socialized. What a solid background to enter the greater world of life with!
College
Twenty-nine years after I graduated from high school and many colleges later, I received my Bachelors Degree in Information Technology from the American Intercontinental University. I may well be the first person to graduate with 203 credits instead of the traditional 120! Having said all that, better late than never. I worked...Expand for more
hard, and I'm proud of it.
Workplace
My work biography is an extension of my military career. When I retired from the Air Force, I accepted a position with Lockheed Martin providing much of the same services that I did in the military. I don't miss the military, since my current job is still so much a part of it.
Military
I must admit, I never thought I'd join the military until about a month before I graduated from high school. I primarily joined for the educational benefits, which I never virtally never found time for between the arduous work schedule and my penchant to find fun at all other times. I learned the communications engineering field and did things that I still can't believe I did. I spent 14 of 20 years of the Air Force overseas, primarily in England but also some time throughout the Pacfic. The military forces responsibility, and puts members of positions of responsibility that they civilian world puts people 20 years older in. In short, I loved what I did. There was some red tape, and some stupid policies that one had to work through, but I'd do it again.
