James's Story
Life
After High School, 4 years of College with a BS in Math and Science and my pilot's license.. Off to the military as a 2nd Lieutenant, Army, Infantry but detailed to Artillery, NIKE. Served at Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City,South Dakota. Home to Nashville, 5 years teaching Math and Physics at Madison High in Nashville. Completed a Master of Arts degree in Natural Sciences, concentration was in Physics. Joined DuPont,spending 27 years at five locations around the US. Continued in the US Army Reserve coming out as a Captain. Retired from DuPont at Louisville, KY in 1993, returning to Chattanooga area (Hixson). We bought an Engineering Consulting Company. Sold it but I am now working with Card Monroe doing safety work. I still love flying a Cessna 172, fly fishing in the Smokies, my wife, kids , granddaughter, Emily Hope West . ved in Sons of The American Revolution. Have served as State President and National Trustee. Geneaology has become a big passion. Have ancestry traced back to 1755 from Ireland and Scandinavian countries in the 1600's. We love taking cruises with Holland America, our three favorites being to Alaska, and then to Nova Scotia-Newfoundland and later to the Virgin Islands and in Jan 2018 to Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. Hope to do a cruise to Bermuda next fall or in years to come-world situation allowing
Pauline and I lost our son Chris in May 2015. He is interred in the National Cemetery in Chattanooga as he was a Navy veteran spending his career as a nuclear operator on the Nuclear Submarine, USS Sandlance.. We are charter members of the National Congressional Medal of Honor Museum here in Chattanooga. Miss all of classmates in both high school, UT and MTSU and Ellsworth AFB and other military work. Also at Madison High.
