James's Story
I'm now living in Charlottesville, Virginia. By the way, nobody calls me "James", except for the folks at Classmates or maybe one of our still-living former TZ teachers! I'm married to Julie (fast approaching our 25th Anniversary), and have one son who is about to finish his Junior year at the University of Virginia. In addition to our old alma mater,Tappan Zee High School, I attended Johns Hopkins University (Pre-med) and the Medical College of Virginia. I am a Professor of Pathology and Dermatology at the University of Virginia, thinking more and more about retirement with every passing day!
I had a military career, with 6 years active duty (West Point, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center - the last two now sadly closed) and over 14 years in the Army Reserve, and retired at the rank of Colonel some years ago. thology) that over the years has trained over 40 physicians in the field. I've written some papers and 5 books (one currently in production), and have been involved with several medical organizations, still serving on the American Board of Dermatology.
But I also love baseball, swimming and golf, and like to travel. Am probably not as widely traveled as many of you, but have been to most U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, much of the Caribbean, some of Europe (England, Scotland, Belgium, Italy, Greece), other places in or near the Mediterranean (Greek Islands, Israel, Turkey) and also Australia for a way-too-short visit. But nothing tops those "golden years" at Tappan Zee. Right?!
There's a lot to tell, but I am anxious to hear everyone's stories - which are likely to be way more interesting! I am also excited that there is to be a Class of '64 Reunion, and look forward to seeing many of you there!
