James's Story
Life
I graduated from the Univ. of MD in 1980 with a B.S. in Music Education. I taught one year at Archbishop Carroll HS in DC. I then went to DeMatha HS in 1982 and have been there since, where I am the Director of Bands. I teach 2 of the 5 levels of band at DeMatha. I also taught Chorus for 15 years.
I have conducted many honors bands including the MD All State Junior Band in 1992 and the U of MD Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

rly Beard of St. Mary's County - Great Mills HS) and have two wonderful children - Megan (26) and Christian (23). Megan graduated from St Mary's College of Maryland, received her Masters from Oriel College, University of Oxford, and is now working for Oriel College in Oxford, UK. Christian is a seasonal Law Enforcement Officer for the National Park Service. He spent his last two summers in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on the Arizona/Utah border.
