James's Story
Life
I grew up in Columbus. Mostly in the Linden area. I went to Medina Junior High for three years then went to Brookhaven. I would have graduated in 75. I was only there for one year 72/73, when our family moved to Florida. In 1973 I went into the Army.I spent six years in Germany. I got out in 1981 and came back to Florida. The winters here are so much nicer than in Ohio.I have been married to the same woman for 20 years, we have two boys. For five years I tried my luck in business for myself. I had a sports collectibles store. It is a tough business! I just could not lie and cheat people so I had to get out. The amount of time it took from my family was also a problem. I am a machinist by trade.I really enjoy my line of work. There is always something new to learn. I wish I could go back to my yearbook and put names with faces ,unfortunatly my yearbook was missplaced a long time ago. Boy do I wish I had one now! If anybody knows how or where I can get one please let me know!

vocational school to become a machinest. It was something I always wanted to do. I am good at making things from a chunk of raw material. Most of my experience has been with all types of plastics. In the last couple of years I have been gradually crossing over to working with exotic tool steels. I get a real feeling of satisfaction out of a proto-type that a customer is happy with. I truly enjoy using the machinery to make things.
Military
Joined in Oct. 73 ended up in Buedingen in Feb. 74 where I stayed untill Oct. 80. I loved being in Germany the entire time I was there. I took full advantage of being there at the military's expense. I really miss the little festivals that seemed to be going on somewhere every weekend. Most of all I miss the way I was treated as an American that could speak German. It was definately a good move to learn their language as quick as possible. I don't miss the miserably cold winters! Budingen was a beautiful little town with some wonderfully nice people. Someday I will return there as a tourist.
