James's Story
James lives in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. His schools include Lafayette High School, class of 1957). He attended Eastern Kentucky University (BS) and University of Kentucky (Ph.D.). Did a Post Doctoral at Carnegie Institute of Technology later Carnegie Mellon University and taught for 2 years there. He works(ed) at U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Washington, DC for 30 years holding many positions there and retired in 1999. ulting with food firms he operates an antique shop there. During his time at FDA he was assigned to assist the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) in many workshop and research projects as an expert in Radioanalytical Chemistry. He is a Fellow of the AOAC International, the AAAS, Meteoritical Society, and the American Nuclear Society. Recently elected to Lafayette Hall of Fame. In July of 2021 his wife of 57 years, Dr. Bonnie O. Tanner, died after a long battle with cancer.
