Jim's Story
Life
I enlisted in the Navy (4 yrs) in '69. I married my high school sweet heart Jan. After trying several different areas I became a police officer in '74 which I still am today. We have two children, Jen (33) & Mike (30), and two grand children, Jordyn (8) and Tyler (6). My youngest got married in Oct. 21, '05. We've lived in Tempe for 30 years and love it here. Jan has been a medical assistannt for 26 years and we retire together in July 07, 2006. We'll have our 37th anniversary in May '08. Life has been great.
School
I always regreted not getting more involved in school activities. I also regreted being so shy and not hanging out with more people. I still remember a lot of classmates. I don't know why. Although I've found that very few remember me. Still, a lot of good memories.
College
Was not ready for college after H.S., I did 4 years military. 13 yrs later I finished my AA at Mesa Community college with honors. Not bad for someone who was just glad to graduate. College was great although work didn't allow much extra time to mix. I really wish I had been able to experiance it much earlier. But life i...Expand for more
s great.
Workplace
With my career coming to a close, I do mostly training now for the unit I work for. It's a full time job that only three of us do. It's especially gratifying when you get feed back on the work you do, especially when it resulted in a life saved.
I have retired now and I'm busier then ever. We have traveled to Alaska, W.Virginia, Virginia, N.Carolina, DC, Maryland, England, and Washington. We are nov\w looking forward to another trip to Virginia. A trip to Florida, Washington, Oregan and possibly Germany and other stops in eurupe. Life is good. I enjoyed my job so much that I joined the reserves and currently put in about 600 hours a year.
Military
I did a lot of growing up while in the military. It was one of the best things I did at this junction in my life. Many good times and many friends made. The best friend I still keep in touch with. and got to see him again at a shipmates reunion in Charleston, S.C., May 2005, and he and his wife at a reunion in Seattle, August 2007. We also met up with two other shipmates. One of them in Las Vegas, NV and the other right here in the valley (Mesa).
