James's Story

Hi Y'all After graduating in 1974 from Pulaski High School, I went on to Marquette University and enjoyed the Al McGuire era (1977 National Champions), along with a degree in Business. From there I moved on to Wisconsin Telephone, an operating company of A,T,&T (which became Wisconsin Bell, Ameritech, SBC and is once again A,T,&T). I was in sales with these organizations, primarily managing the largest corporations (Johnson Controls, SC Johnson Wax, Miller Brewing, Milwaukee Brewers, Harley Davidson, Briggs & Stratton and Kimberly Clark among them) in Wisconsin for 22 years. Some would say rather successfully, too. It was a great ride, and had many wonderful relationships and experiences, with so many great people. During a period from 1981 thru 1988, I was given the great opportunity of working with the Milwaukee Bucks and the NBA. The first three seasons I assisted the opposing team's (or the National) radio/TV broadcasters of the game, as a statistician. The last three seasons I worked at the scorers table, where I was responsible for the 24-second clock, and other official scoring duties. It was a great experience, during the Milwaukee Bucks more successful years, in the NBA. I retired in November 2000 at the ripe old age of 43, and moved to a home on the lake, in the woods of Shawano, WI, which I truly enjoy with my wife, Susan, dog Blue, and Kid-D (cat). We also have traveled extensively with favorite destinations in Kenya/Tanzania/South Africa (safari), Mediterranean(Italy/Turkey/Greece/Spain) and Australia/New Zealand. We have also traveled throughout the U.S. with favorite destinations Hawaii (all the islands), Californ...Expand for more
ia (Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego), Arizona (Tucson and Phoenix for Brewer Spring Training and Northern Arizona for Sedona and The Grand Canyon), New York City and the historic areas of the east coast and Washington D.C. Mexico (Puerto Vallarta and Cancun) and Canada (Toronto and Niagara Falls) were also favorite trips during their time. My wife once wanted to relocate to Alaska (another favorite destination) for the summers and spend the winters here in Wisconsin. However, more recently, the need for sunshine and warmer weather has sent us to the Sunshine State. During our time here in Shawano, we used to help out as a substitute teacher (a wonderful experience sharing my road with so many great kids), or driving medivans (and helping the elderly through their last days). We also try to keep an eye on our elderly parents who live here, too. My wife also helped out on weekends at one of the local nursing homes. We now enjoy our first grandchild, Tiella, from our daughter, Jamie. Did I mention The Sunshine State? We are now readying ourselves for our next journey - a relocation to The Villages, FL, a golf cart community of 100,000 retirees, about an hour or so NW of The Magic Kingdom. 352-561-8874 So for the most part, life has been verry, verry good to me, as they would say in the 70s, and as Frank Sinatra would say, "I did it my way". I've been blessed with a wonderful wife, a life filled with many stories to tell, and a great place to call home. I thank God, every day, for giving me all that I have. If anyone wants to say hi, we're here at shawanoresearchcenter yahoo c Thanks to all of you who are a part of my story!
