James's Story

2020 is flying by and yet each day seems to linger and drag from one to the next. So many horrible events, so much death, suffering and unrest around us all. Most of all worry for our country and our way of life. I have practiced law for over 40 years. Proud to have fought the good fight whenever I was blessed to have the chance. I'm not special but it feels good to be a part of doing what feels right. I was supposed to retire last year and again this year but not time yet. Last year was personal sadness, and blessings too. Among the the many blessings my high school sweetheart Pat Sanchez Aguirre and I celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary on September 15th..It was especially sweet because I almost lost her in 2018. Plans for the big vacation/celebration trip still on Covid 19 hold for now. I put all struggles in the blessings column, more wake-up calls to appreciate our loved ones in the present and never take them for granted. We have been and remain personally healthy, but have wept for over 320,000 dead in the US from the worst pandemic in our lifetime. Close family and friends fought this one with us on the sideline. Last year noted that my mother-in-law passed away in February, 2019 and we all continue to miss but remember her daily and greatly. Luckily we never reall...Expand for more
y lose our loved ones. Its really more than just thoughts and memories, but still bitter sweet. I continue to look forward to retirement in the near future. That is the plan, again as it was last year. I'll say it again, take life as it comes, We continue to plan and God continues to laugh. I still look forward to what may come with hope and faith to carry on. Its now 42 years and counting of practicing law and it still feels like about enough but I am still happy to have the choice. I also hope the CSM Class of 1971 can celebrate our 50 anniversary of graduation next year., if we can get it together for a very special class reunion. Hope and wish for us all to stay healthy.
