James's Story

I joined the Navy in August of 72, went into the Nuclear Power field & operated Nuclear Power Plants on Submarines for 20 years. Married in 1978, 6 children, all grown now. We are separated, live apart, all a part of life I guess. While in the Navy, I taught classes during my second shore tour, and found I really enjoyed it. Retired from the Navy in January of 1993, and spent a couple of years trying to find a decent job. Latched on with Firestone as a Maintenance Technician, then Supervisor. The plant I worked at was the one in the news in 2000 with the tire recall. Had my resume on Monster.com, and was hired by Motorola to be an instructor on classes involving two way radios. My dream job! Am still employed there, love my work. Also found that I love to write. Am a member of Writing dot com...Expand for more
, a website for Amateur writers. Have no grand plans on being published, that's a long hard road that I don't have time for to be honest. Yes, the stuff I write is very good, but there's millions of things out there just as good. Can view it at writing dot com slash main slash portfolio slash view slash sum1swriting (Had to type it like that since you can't have a web address in your profile. You know how to do it on an address bar though....) I write mainly poetry, but love writing a good short story. You can also drop me a note at that website too, if you would like to say hi. I still love music, but haven't played since leaving high school. Have been home several times over the years, but now reside in Illinois. Would rather be home in Albuquerque or Seattle, but this is where I am for now.

Credit Simone Nez for this beautiful photo. I couldn't share it, so I copied and pasted it here. Please forgive me if this is improper, I will remove it if necessary. It's too beautiful to not allow others to view it. I
Saw this on a former shipmates timeline, and copied/reposted instead of just sharing. This is so true.
