James's Story
Life
Attended Geneva College starting in Jan 1959 majoring in Accounting. Joined the Air Force in 1961 and after training was stationed at Pope AFB, NC and Langley AFB, VA. Upon discharge, went back to work in Civil Service at Langley AFB. Married in 1966 to Nancy Morman in Alexandria, LA. Daughter born in 1968 in Newport News, VA. Received my BA in Computer Science from Troy State Unitversity at Montgomery, AL in 1974. Worked with the Air Force as both military and civilian for over 41 years. Became a Mason in the mid-seventies and in 1995 selected for the 33rd Degree. Served as Commander of the Montgomery York Rite Bodies for one year and as Treasurer of Captitol Lodge F&AM for 20 years. Have two grandchildren; a boy (Aaron)and a girl (Mary Beth). Went into total liver failure in Dec 2000. It was Kriptogenic, meaning they couldn't find the cause. In Feb 2001, I received a liver transplant at UAB in Birmingham, AL. I spent seven and a half months up there and another two and a half months recuperating at home. I went back to work half days for 14 months until I retired in Jan, 2003.
College

o 1961 majoring in Accounting. Joined the Air Force in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1966. Took GED classes and attended some classes in North Carolina and William & Mary College in VA. Went back to college at Troy State University at Montgomery from 1974 to 1976 at night while working for the USAF in Montomgery, AL. Recieved a BA degree in Computer Science.
Workplace
Went to work in Civil Service for the USAF at Langley AFB, VA upon discharge from the Air Force from 1966 to 1971. Transferred to the Air Force Design Center at Gunter AFB, AL in 1971 until I retired in Jan 2003 with over 41 years of Federal Service. I started as a computer programmer, then a computer data system analyst and finally as a computer specialist.
Military
Attended basic training for the Air Force at Lackland AFB, TX. Attended technical school for Data Processing Machine Operator at Sheppard AFB, TX. First permanent assignment was at PopeAFB, NC and transferred to Langley AFB, VA, where I was crosstrained to be a computer programmer. While at Langley did extensive travelling from Washing, DC to Las Vegas, NV and numerous places inbetween in my work.
