James's Story

College I attended both RPI and BCC. Unfortunately I never completed a degree at either. Structured education was never really my strength. I continue to over compensate for not having completed school and probably have a complex about it. While, I have done exceptionally well keeping myself educated, I still would like to complete a degree and perhaps even attempt to go to law school at some point in time. Workplace James Moore has more than fifteen years of experience as a technology architect, solution builder, mentor and implementer. His core strengths include: • Building centers of excellence across organizations and operating companies • Implementing efficient and appropriate use of technology • Educating and motivating professional teams • Re-engineering and optimizing processes, and • Planning and Documenting Architecture, Infrastructure and Best Practices Mr. Moore has served as a Technology Consultant for the Chief Technology Office of Altria Corporate Services since Nabisco was acquired in January 2001 by the Philip Morris Companies. His mission is to enable the international companies of Altria Group Holdings to interoperate and make cost effective use of technologies. In this capacity, Mr. Moore has researched new technologies at the request of operating companies and affiliates of The Altria Group and has outlined and analyzed business case and functional requirements for these. He has worked with the company’s strategic partners to design and tailor solutions to meet these requirements. These partners include Microsoft, SAP, IBM, InfoImage, Interwoven, Documentum, Crystal Decisions, SeeBeyond and others. These technologies have served to enable processes involving workflow, knowledge and content management and business intelligence. These projects also required the leveraging of existing enterprise platforms and infrastructure to achieve economies of scale and to reduce total cost of ownership. Mr. Moore developed the architecture for and managed and implemented an enterprise portal for Kraft North America and Nabisco Foods. He led the global enterprise portal software selection process which was...Expand for more
performed through an RFP for the worldwide Altria Group companies. He implemented the Enterprise Application Integration infrastructure for Applications to Application (A2A) and Business to Business (B2B) communications. Mr. Moore also defined key areas of the enterprise including workflow, application services, portals, and content management. While he was employed at Nabisco, Mr. Moore implemented enterprise wide reporting using Crystal Info and Enterprise Reports. Again, Mr. Moore was key in assisting and educating business units and persuading them to leverage a shared technology infrastructure. He also acted as a liaison to the developer community at Nabisco and led efforts to form common development practices and leveraging shared infrastructure components. While at GAB Robins North America, a company that provides claims management and adjusting services for the property and casualty market and third-party administration for self-insured companies, from 1992–1997, he guided, developed and maintained mission critical, stand-alone, multi-user and client/server applications, and developed their application development framework. His experience there includes managing projects involving the use of Visual Basic, UNIX and mainframe communications, data entry, and EDI. He developed standards for version control, quality assurance and distribution and implementation procedures for program updates. At First Union Bank (formerly First Fidelity Bancorporation) and at The Howard Savings Banks Mr. Moore implemented corporate wide area networking, integrated Mainframe and PC Network communications on TCP/IP based networks and assisted and planned in the implementation of shared development services for the Banks’ various divisions. The wide diversity of areas he was exposed to here formed the background and experiences that have made Mr. Moore so well adept at planning IT architecture and infrastructure. Mr. Moore has been a featured speaker at Computer Associates’ CA World, and at Computer Associates’ Developers’ Conference in Moscow. He is a member of Microsoft’s .Net Strategic Design Review Panel and the Customer Advisor Council for Crystal Decisions Software.
