James's Story

Life Hello all, Well where do I start. I'm currently deployed to Iraq on my second tour, it's been non-stop the past 3-4 years it seems. I'm married with two children, my wife is in Germany where they decided to stay for the deployment. I'm about 7 months into the tour so hopefully after the turn of the year (2006) we'll be re-deploying. Life has been good both personally and professionally, I wish I could have spent more quality time with the family but the Army has kept me to busy. I would certainly like to chat with old friends and many that I never got to know all that well in school, I had a great time at the reunion back in 96 and would like to repeat in 2006. I hope to retire next Summer. School Well I was rather quiet and to myself in HS, certainly not in the military, I finally opened up. If I could do it over again I would of definately been more outgoing. I admired many of ...Expand for more
the teachers back in the day and still remember a few of them. College Not a lot of College memories, all my courses were taken on bases in the military. Most of my classes were taken through Central Texas College and a couple through University of Maryland. Military I am currently stationed at Ft.Riley, KS. I am the First Sergeant of a Brigade Recon Troop. I've been in nearly 19 years; hopefully retirement is just around the corner. I have been a Scout most of my time and was Airborne Infantry my first 4 years at Ft. Bragg with the 82nd. Been to the Sinai Peninsula between Egypt and Israel, Panama for Just Cause, two tours to Germany with travel all over Europe, two times in the Balkans, and now twice over here of course. Also did some Intelligence work for a couple years and recruited in Louisiana for three years. My current unit is H Troop, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd BCT, 1st AD.
