James's Story
UPDATED 4-24-08
Family
I've been happily married since 1995 to my wonderful wife, Beth. We have one child, a son named James Paul Reno IV, aka "Jake". Jake turns seven in May. He is the light of the world.
Workplace
I currently own a real estate appraisal company. While I have other hobbies, business is the one that motivates me everyday. And I've found that I'm a decent employee, but a much better entrepreneur.
Military
My time in the service shaped who I am today. I enlisted at age 18 after being interested in the military for years. I wasn't quite ready for college and working in concstruction for my father had grown tiresome. I needed a change. The Army was a shock to my system at first, but I absolutely loved it over time. I was only active military for two years, then spent 12 years in the reserves and thought about going active again many times. I missed (and still do miss) the comaraderie and esprit de corps. The feeling on knowing that you are serving your country is a very satisfying one. I'll never forget the time I spent in the Army.
Hobbies
Anything with an engine turns my head. I love dirt bikes, sports cars, Jeeps, boats, etc. Watersports have always been my fav...Expand for more
orite activities. I like to SCUBA dive, sail, swim, surf, and fish. I still write almost everyday and currently am working on a book about the Caribbean.
Life
We've been living in the Bahamas for the last three years. It's just something we've always wanted to do as the Bahamas has been my second home for the last 15 years. It's a place where my spirit as allowed to soar and relax at the same time, if that makes any sense.
Our real home is in Walnut Creek, CA and we plan to head back there later this year.
Memories
I remember lots of laughs in high school and I had some really great friends. Chris Capitola, Mark Froling and Joe Comine were among the closest. They were guys I could depend upon and the ones that made me laugh the most.
Once I realized that everyone was having the same difficult life learning curve that I was I stopped resenting people for the way they acted. Lord knows I could be a real dumb-ass, too. We were all just making our way through life the best we could.
Our 20-year reunion was the absolute best. It was wonderful to see you all. You've remained a beautiful group of people and I enjoyed seeing and celebrating with you.
I wish health, love and laughter for all.
