James's Story

Hi to all CHS alums who may remember me! I hope to see more of my 1961 classmates (and old friends who graduated both before and after me) as members here on Classmates.com before too long! Here is a brief synopsis of my life following graduation: UMass for 2 years, and kept playing trombone in the band there, then traveled down to Hartford to major in music at Hartt College, where I graduated in 1966. Taught high school choral (!) music a year and then spent the next 4 years in the Air Force, playing in the SAC band in Omaha, where I met my wife of 39 (!) years, Margaret. After I got out, We relocated to Iowa City for grad school...Expand for more
(both of us--Marg is a pianist), and then I took a faculty position here in Alabama, teaching trombone (etc.) at Jacksonville State University, where I have been for 36 years. Boy, do I tend to stay put! We have one daughter, Meghan, 32, and she has made us grandparents--our adorable Brody James is now 16 months old. Meg teaches 1st grade over in Georgia. My mom passed away in 2002, and Dad just celebrated his 90th birthday this past Fall. Sill going strong, but no more commercial blueberries for him! My brother Bruce now handles that shore; Priscilla and Glenda were well. Cilla lives in So. Deerfield and Glenda is in Tokyo.
